What a difference a year makes.

The Silicon Valley tech wreck has brought a whopping dose of common sense back to Bay Area business circles, and thank goodness for that. No one likes to see people out of work or feeling the pain wrought by a prolonged economic slowdown. But the hubris and shortsighted optimism of the dot-com digerati will not be missed.

So, we say good riddance to:

Speaking in acronyms. Remember when every conversation you had was sprinkled with gems like b-to-c, b-to-b or p-to-p?

Dot-com executives (mostly male) scurrying around town on Razor scooters. Worrying about getting "Amazoned." Clicks and bricks. PowerPoint presentations. Aeron chairs …
