Southern Community extends reach in Boca Raton.(Boca Raton headquarters for new bank)(Brief Article)
Southern Community Bancorp of Orlando has picked Boca Raton as the headquarters for its new bank that would serve the territory between West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale.
Southern Community plans to open a branch in Boca Raton by the end of this month, said Dennis Bedley, the company's president for South Florida.
That branch will be at 1850 N. Federal Highway in a building that previously was an Am Trust Bank branch.
By the end of this year, the holding company plans to file applications with banking regulators to open Southern Community Bank of South Florida, said Bedley, who previously was Colonial Bank's executive VP for Palm Beach and Broward …
