In response to the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, companies and organizations throughout Western New York have created special funds or are making corporate donations. Following is a partial list of local efforts.

Individuals and organizations have donated more than $470,000 to the Sept. 11 Fund through the United Way of Buffalo & Erie County and the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo. The two organizations have partnered to accept donations to aid emergency relief efforts in areas affected. All donations will support immediate crisis services and support to emergency assistance agencies and to ongoing needs of victims and their families. The total includes 20 gifts from individuals of $1,000 or more, including two $20,000 donations received by the foundation.
