Jakarta, Oct 19 (ANTARA) - Several non-govermental activists called on House Speaker Akbar Tanjung here on Friday to resign in connection with his alleged involvement in the corruption of non-budgetary fund of the National Logistics Agency (Bulog).

Among those conveying the request were Teten Masduki from the Indonesian Corruption Watch (ICW) and Emmy Hafield from the Indonesian Forum for the Environment (Walhi).

They said Akbar Tanjung had to resign from his post without necessarily waiting for the legal process of the case and inquiry by the House of Representatives (DPR) as manifestation of public accountability.
