2001 OCT 24 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Barr Laboratories, Inc. announced September 28, 2001, that it has been awarded a $35.4 million, six-year contract from the United States Department of Defense for development of adenovirus vaccines type 4 and 7.
Barr officials said that the contract provides $17.4 million to support Phase I development, and $18 million to support Phase II and Phase III clinical studies and the filing of the biological license applications. Following successful approval, Barr would manufacture the vaccines under contract to the government specifically for dispensing to the armed forces.
"We are excited about the opportunity to work with Walter Reed Army Institute of Research and the Department of Defense in the development of these two vaccine products.
