Here's the official company line: The Jaguar XKR-R (aka the XKR+, see AW, Cover Story, May 21) is a one-off special built by SVO in the United Kingdom as a toy/testbed. It's an XKR with a 400-hp engine (vs. 370 stock), six-speed Getrag manual transmission (vs. five-speed automatic), heavily modified rear suspension, racing bucket seats, roll bar and lots of R-Performance options.
