Online transaction the way to go for port users.

THE Royal Customs and Excise Department foresees a huge increase in online transaction among port users within the next two years with the completion of the third phase of its Customs Information System project.

Its director-general Datuk Abdul Halil Abd Mutalib said the RM156 million project would enable transactions, especially those related to excise payments, to be conducted in hassle-free and paperless manner.

The system would also help the department to minimise fraud, Abdul Halil said after launching UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd's electronic-Excise system (e-Excise) in Petaling Jaya yesterday.
