Our nation must tolerate even the reprehensible

Albuquerque has got to maintain a proper sense of proportion during this conflict with terrorism, lest all hell break loose.

This goes for the people who want University of New Mexico professor Richard Berthold fired, if not worse, for his inexcusable comments after the Sept. 11 attack on the Pentagon. And it goes for people, like Berthold, who appear to think so abstractly that they are unable to appreciate the seriousness of what happened that fateful day.
