STRAWBERRIES - As of Aug. 1, cold storage holdings of frozen Strawberries in the Pacific region were down 24% from the prior year to 331.9 million pounds, accounting for 88% of the nation's holdings of frozen Strawberries.

Deliveries of Strawberries to California processors totaled 3.4 million pounds for the week ending Aug. 18, with the season-to-date total now 294.6 million pounds, down 19% form 360.2 million pounds a year ago.
U.S. imports of frozen Strawberries during the first six months of 2001 totaled 48.6 million pounds, down 21% from the same period in 2000. Of the total, 91% originated in Mexico. A strong fresh market in Mexico as well as weakened demand in the U.S. were factors in the decline.
Offers for 30-lb., 4+1 sliced are 66-67 cents per pound, in the low 70s for 6/6.5s, and in the upper 70s for IQF, f.o.b. California.
In the Northwest 30-lb., 4+1 sliced Totems are offered in the mid-60s, while whole is offered at about 67 cents per pound. IQF is offered at about 75 cents per pound, f.o.b. Northwest.
