ALMONDS - Current pricing is steady, with prices of 23/25 Nonpareil Supremes reported at $1.35 - $1.40 per pound, Nonpareil Select Sheller Run between $1.30 - $1.35 and Mission Select Sheller Run between $1.05 - $1.10 per pound. Prices of Blanched Slivered are $1.45 - $1.55 per pound, Thick Sliced Natural are $1.35 - $1.45, Carmel 23/25 and 25/27 are $1.20 - $1.25 per pound. All prices f.o.b. California.
WALNUTS - The market is steady, with the expectations of an above average new crop. New crop pricing may fall below $2.00 per pound and could fall within the $1.70 - $1.80 range for the combination grades. Current pricing is firm, with Combination Halves and Pieces ranging from $2.30 - $2.40 per pound and Light Halves and Pieces ranging from $2.40 - $2.45 per pound. All prices f.o.b. California.
Shipments of Walnuts through July 31 totaled 283.7 million pounds, of which inshell accounted for 40.7% and shelled accounted for 59.2%. In terms of inshell equivalent, 252,794 tons were shipped through July 31, down 10.6% from shipments through the same time last year.
U.S. Walnut exports for the 2001 marketing season totaled 163.1 million pounds, down 19.2% from the 2000 season. The majority of inshell product exports, which totaled 115.6 million pounds, were to Germany, which accounted for 19.0% of the inshell export total.

The top recipient of shelled product was Japan with 16.7 million pounds, a slight increase from last year, followed by Spain, with 3.2 million pounds.
