* GMC SIERRA C3

Price: $39,090

Engine: 6.0-liter V8, 325 hp, 370 lb-ft

Curb weight: 5013 lbs

Drivetrain: awd, four-speed automatic

GMC touts its C3 as a pickup engineered for ultimate on-road performance. Indeed, 325 hp, 370 lb-ft of torque and all-wheel drive ain't a bad place to start. The C3 also boasts 17-inch, R-rated Michelins, four-wheel discs with ABS, and minimal body chrome. The leather-lined interior is comfortable and roomy. It's good the C3 has all-wheel drive because there's muscle-car power on tap (60 mph arrives in less than eight seconds), but it's also a comfortable long-distance cruiser. The back seats are big enough for real-sized people, although adults might complain

if the trip lasts more than a few hours. You can stretch the fuel range to more than 400 miles, another nice feature for long-distance traveling.
