Texas insurance regulators say they have finished sending surveys to life insurers to determine whether any of the companies ever based pricing of their policies on race.
The Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) mailed surveys this week to 97 life insurance companies. Previously, in June 2000, the department forwarded surveys to 33 companies and another 40 earlier this year.
With the latest mailing, TDI officials say they have surveyed all life insurers domiciled in Texas.
