Two hotels and a restaurant may go up on Transit Road in Lancaster.

Robert Kunvarji, who owns five area hotels, is working with Lancaster officials to bring two hotels that will collectively have nearly 175 rooms to the Transit Road near the state Thruway.

Kunvarji plans to demolish the 15-room Lancaster Motor Inn motel, a property he already owns, and replace it with a 91-room Country Inn & Suites hotel. Kunvarji is waiting for Lancaster officials to approve that project.

Pending various municipal approvals, Kunvarji said he hopes to start construction on the hotel this fall and have it open next summer.
