Luxury condos multiply west of Brewers Hill

High-end housing is rising at a previously desolate site in Milwaukee's central city that was cleared decades ago in the name of urban renewal.

Carla Gross and her sister, Maudie Love, are developing a 37-unit luxury townhouse condominium project called Vine yard Terrace, which is taking shape on North Fourth and West Vine streets, west of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. This is the first development for Cross, principal of Cross Development Group Inc., Milwaukee.

The first phase of construction will be finished by October, Cross said. The townhomes will range in price from $173,900 to $234,000. The $8 million project is being financed by LaSalle Bank and the Wisconsin Housing &Economic Development Authority.
