E-marketplace may help Arizona firms increase exports

The U.S. Department of Commerce is unveiling an e-marketplace that local officials hope will be a boon to Arizona firms looking to level the playing field in expanding international sales.

Called BuyUSA.com, the business-to-business Web site will network local companies with more than 150 offices in more than 80 countries around the world; in addition to 100 offices in the United States.

The program, which launches Sept. 18, is a joint venture between IBM, which is supplying the Internet technology, and the Department of Commerce's U.S. Commercial Service, which oversees export activities. …
