COI Communications has appointed Peter Buchanan to the newly created post of deputy chief executive.

Buchanan, who joined COI as director of advertising in 1994 and became director of marketing communications two years later, will take on extra responsibilities involving the strategic and operational running of the organisation. The move will see him working more closely with the chief executive, Carol Fisher.
