Dow Chemical Co is completing a new ethylene capacity upgrade at its refinery complex at Terneuzen, The Netherlands, at a cost of $500 M.

The capacity of the revamped refinery, due on-stream in 4Q 2001, will be increased by 600,000 tonnes/y to 1.7 M tonnes/y making it the largest naphtha-cracking ethylene site in the world.

The major equipment sources for the upgrade and the performance improvements are tabulated.
