CHIMIE HEBDO: Further job cuts announced by Akzo Nobel and Ciba; 1H 2001 results for Ciba Speciality Chemicals.
Following job losses announced by Bayer, BASF, Clariant and DuPont (figures given in this item), the Akzo Nobel subsidiary Eka Chemicals is to lose 175 jobs, and Ciba Specialty Chemicals is to lose a further 300.
Eka Chemicals (Sweden; 3080 employees) is restructuring to reduce production costs, and 100 of the 175 job losses are to be in Sweden.
