Wilson will get test

* FIA F3000 points-leader Justin Wilson will test a Formula One car soon. He's preparing to test a Jordan and also has had a seat fitting at McLaren. Taking his third win of the season in Hungary and a second at Spa, the 23-year-old Brit clinched the FIA F3000 title. After Spa, Wilson extended his points lead to 26 points over main rival Mark Webber. Wilson is one of the few F3000 front-runners yet to have an F1 test. His manager, Jonathan Palmer, says he has several potential deals in the works.

Is Nissan back?

* Nissan could be about to return to big-time sports car racing after a two-year absence: The Japanese automaker is eyeing a comeback with the next-generation Z car. Nissan quit international sports car racing at the end of 1999 shortly after Renault bought it. Nissan officials said that the company is ready to return to the discipline in which it has a long heritage on both sides of the Atlantic. NISMO, Nissan's in-house motorsport department, has met with the Le Mans officials and has attended a number of American Le Mans Series races along with representatives of Nissan in the States. ALMS bosses admit talks with Nissan are ongoing. Steve Kight, Nissan USA motorsport manager, said, "For this purpose we are carrying out various researches, and visits to the ALMS are just part of that."
