Custom Metal acquires Summit Metal plants.(Brief Article)

The assets of Summit Metal Fabricating Inc., which operated two plants and has its corporate headquarters in Cudahy, have been sold to Custom Metal Products L.L.C., Menomonee Falls.

The move is expected to cost at least 25 former Summit workers their jobs, according to a notice filed with the state.

Summit, which operated plants at 5707 S. Pennsylvania Ave. and 6001 Ace Industrial Drive, provided sheet metal, plate and structural fabricating. The company said that the layoffs would affect both production and office personnel.

Summit employed 85 workers at the time of the sale. The company's assets were surrendered to its primary secured lenders, …
