Born and raised in Las Vegas, 16-year-old Chad Hoff dreams of participating in one of Nevada's biggest annual events: the National Finals Rodeo.

Chad, who will be a sophomore at Eldorado High School in the fall, is one of four Las Vegas students who will compete at the 53rd annual National High School Finals Rodeo in Springfield, Ill., Monday-July 29.

He qualified for a position on the Nevada state high school rodeo team in team roping. The event features two contestants working together to immobilize a steer by roping it around its neck and rear legs.
