Seven young women from the Frontier Girl Scout Council recently received the Gold Award, the top honor for a Girl Scout who demonstrates exceptional commitment and dedication to achievement:
Rosalind Baccus, 17, worked with professionals to find out how to help people learn to read for her project "Phonics and Fun." Baccus learned that direct caregivers might be the best source for conveying information about starting to read in a positive way. She is a 2001 graduate of The Meadows School and will attend Kenyon College in Ohio.
