The Clark County School District's college-bound students equaled the national average on the math portion of the Scholastic Assessment Test in 2001, but fell slightly below average on the verbal section.

The results were released Tuesday by the district, after it received the information from The College Board, which sponsors the test. In Nevada, high school students more commonly take the ACT.

District Test Director Judy Costa said the local results reflect the scores of a declining number of test-takers. The number of SAT participants declined from 2,684 students in 2000 to 2,543 students in 2001. The dip was…
