Robert Jay Lambeth got hooked on New Mexico's Fountain murder mystery when he was a kid on a family car trip through the state's Tularosa Basin.

"My dad told me the general story as we crossed the desert," Lambeth said during a phone interview from his El Paso home. "I looked out over the desert, and in my mind I could kind of see that horse and buggy going off toward the mountains. I couldn't help wondering what happened to them."
