Not even houses of God are safe from vandals and burglars.

Nine churches in the Northeast Heights have been objects of crimes, and Albuquerque police say the suspects in at least a few of them are two boys.

Windows were smashed, electronic items stolen and even leftover Easter baskets were torn apart in the spree of burglaries during the past three weeks.

An 11-year-old boy was detained, then released to his parents this week in connection with several of the break-ins. A 16-year-old boy was also detained and booked into the Bernalillo County Juvenile Detention Center, …
