New OSHA Administrator John Henshaw wants to sell small businesses on the idea that safety programs will help their bottom line.

Henshaw says he knows the value of safety programs because of his 26 years of experience in the chemical industry.

"I realize there are employers out there who have no idea what the value is," he says. "My goal is to sell the value of safety and health. It's good business."

Henshaw plans to increase the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's compliance assistance, outreach and training programs, especially to small businesses. He hopes to collaborate with trade associations and safety professionals in this effort, …
