PLASTICS NEWS: Trend moves injection moulding hub to metals site.

Trend Technologies Inc is planning to integrate plastics and metal processing operations at all but 3 of its 16 units.

As part of the programme the company is to close down its plastics injection moulding unit in N San Jose, CA and move its machinery to its metals unit in S San Jose by end 2001 at a cost of $2 M.

The company previously closed down a plastics unit in San Diego.

Trend wants to position itself as a producer of complete electronics systems.

This strategy has been adopted by other companies, such as Flextronics International Ltd.
