re: The Gary Condit Project
First off, let me reiterate what was said at today's staff meeting: everyone in marketing is totally excited about fast-tracking the Gary Condit Project (GCP) through the system. With enough teamwork and diligence, we can get a pretty decent GCP into theaters in time for the summer.
But we do have some thoughts as we get into the script development phase:
We're concerned that the Condit character (probably Michael Douglas- still in negotiation) comes off as too unlikable. We want audiences to root for this guy as he outwits the DC cops and Connie Chung, but as currently written he seems creepy and distinctly unheroic. Also, if we do get Julia Roberts to play Chandra (longshot-she's got three projects lined up before the winter), then we think we've got a BIG problem marketing-wise and word-of-mouth-wise. People go to a Julia Roberts picture wanting to see Julia Roberts-not wanting to see people LOOK for Julia Roberts.
