Boston hedge fund K Capital Partners llc disclosed Aug. 28 that it might be able to assemble an investor group that could top a $14-per-share bid for Prime Group Realty Trust made by Prime's chairman and Canadian pension fund manager CDP Capital.
K Capital, which has a 13.5% stake in the Chicago-based REIT, sent a letter to the company's independent board of trustees Monday requesting that Prime waive previous confidential and standstill agreements it has with the hedge fund, according to filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
