2001 AUG 9 - (NewsRx Network) -- Applied Imaging Corp. (AICX) announced that it has introduced several new applications for its MDS [TM] platform to assist pathologists in their review of key breast cancer tests.

These applications provide the pathologist with the capability to automate and quantify the analysis of the estrogen and progesterone receptors (ER/PR) Ki-67, p53, and AE1/AE3. This new software release also offers additional functionality for the system's existing Her-2/neu application.

The MDS platform utilizes the new applications to identify cancer cells that have been appropriately stained and provides the pathologist with quantitative information regarding the average staining intensity and percentage of stained cells on the slide. The existing immunohistochemistry-based Her-2/neu application has been enhanced to provide the pathologist with additional scoring mechanisms to assist in the determination of Her-2/neu protein ...
