Govt to seek thaw to PKO freeze.

The government will submit to the Diet this autumn a bill to revise the U.N. Peacekeeping Activities Cooperation Law to enable Japanese troops to take part in U.N. peacekeeping forces' activities, government sources said Saturday.

Along with the proposed end to a freeze on Japan's participation in the U.N. peacekeeping forces activities, the government has decided to ease criteria for use of arms by Japanese troops involved in U.N. peacekeeping activities, the sources said.
