Our long-term Audi TT roadster has so far been trouble-free, and the cooperating weather makes for terrific top-down motoring. Indeed, the logbook is full of fun-in-the-sun praise. This entry pretty much sums up our experience so far: ``Do not kid yourself here: Being able to jump into a 225-hp, four-wheel-drive turbocharged tourer with a power drop-top is a pay raise no matter how you look at it.''

As we continue to enjoy the 1.8-liter turbo four's thrust, the smooth shifter and the TT's terrific brakes, we keep coming back to the notion that this is a near-perfect escapist vehicle.

We love Audi's quattro system (a staffer said in a wet commute to work one morning he felt like Senna in the rain at Monaco). It may be the best all-wheel-drive system in the auto industry.
