Logbooks for long-term cars usually fill up with mundane notes like ``Tire pressures were off four pounds. Pay attention people!'' or ``Who left a Michael Bolton CD in here?''

But even after four months in our hands, the Audi TT is still garnering kudos: ``This car is so complete and so well thought out. Beautiful, even.'' And ``It was smooth, fast and handled oh-so fine.''

The TT manages to strike a chord with its breathtaking styling, while at the same time offering impressive performance. Its 1.8-liter, turbocharged inline four, with 225 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque, provides plenty of power once the turbo spools up. Some wish for more low-end torque, but those same staffers get a kick out of the whoosh-ing sound when the turbo kicks in.
