The top has dropped, and boy are we geeked. Weather in the Midwest is finally starting to cooperate, and AutoWeek staffers have been lowering the Boxster S's canvas cover at every opportunity-including those when rain threatens but is not yet falling.
It's an extremely easy top to operate. Simply pull the lever located at the middle of the top, push the button until the warning light goes out and-voila!-you're stylin'.
Alas, all has not been perfect with the top's operation. One staffer accidentally knocked out one of the windscreens located behind the top of each seat. The top swallowed it as it went down and it put some dents in the top's plastic backlight. A daylong blast of sunlight worked them out.
Speaking of the plastic window, it fogs up easily and we've been working hard trying to keep it clean. The cleaner/polish that Porsche supplies with the vehicle helps. But the window is one of a short list of problems that cropped up.
