MTD CAPITAL Bhd yesterday upped its bid for shares of Metacorp Bhd from RM2.50 to RM3 each following an acquisition at that price by a friendly party.

Arab-Malaysian Merchant Bank Bhd (AMMB), advisor to MTD, issued a statement to the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE) saying that Lambang Simfoni Sdn Bhd, a party acting in concert with MTD, until yesterday had acquired blocks of Metacorp shares off-market for RM3 a piece.

Lambang Simfoni purchased 20.67 million Metacorp shares from tycoon Tan Sri Halim Saad and Meor Othman Meor Lope for slightly over RM62 million.
