2001 JUL 26 - (NewsRx Network) -- A study in the July 2001 issue of Obstetrics & Gynecology provides additional evidence that uterine artery embolization (UAE) is a safe and effective procedure for reducing symptoms of uterine fibroids.
In one of the largest UAE studies reported so far, 90% of patients were satisfied with symptom relief up to two years after the procedure.
UAE uses a catheter to cut off blood supply to arteries feeding the fibroids.
