Lamborghini will finally unveil the Diablo replacement at the Frankfurt show in September. Codenamed L147, the car will be named after a fighting bull, as per the company tradition started by the Miura in 1967.
The two-seat mid-engined L147 is the first new product from Lamborghini since the Diablo, unveiled in January 1990 during Chrysler's ownership. It is also the first new Lamborghini to appear since Audi took over the Italian company in July 1998. The car was designed by Luc Donkerwolcke, a young Belgian working at the Audi styling center in Ingolstadt, Germany.
On the technical side, the L147-like the Diablo-uses a steel space frame with a welded steel roof. The doors are aluminum, while the fenders and hoods are carbon fiber.
