Its roots are still firmly planted in the Bayou City, but old-line Houston company Loomis, Fargo & Co. has a new international owner.

Swedish security giant Securitas AB recently acquired the 51 percent of Houston-based Loomis it does not already own for roughly $102 million.

A major cash handling company and armored car operator, Loomis, Fargo bolsters Securitas AB's ability to compete with Brink's Inc. in the United States.

"Through the acquisition, Securitas will create a world leader in cash handling services," contends Pat Flaherty, a marketing communications consultant for Loomis, Fargo at Houston's The Focus Group.
