CHENNAI: Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd has posted an over five-fold increase in net profit and a marginal drop in income from operations for the quarter ended June 30, 2001 over the previous year period.

Its net profit was Rs 10.21 crore on income from operations of Rs 1,674.06 crore for the April-June 2001 period against a net profit of Rs 1.95 crore on income from operations of Rs 1,736.30 crore in the same period the previous year.

Consumption of raw materials and purchase of products for sale was Rs 1,522.66 crore (Rs 1,655.62 crore), staff cost Rs 17.81 crore (Rs 13.79 crore), excise duty Rs 68.36 crore (Rs 43.61 crore), and other expenditure Rs …
