ON July 16, I accompanied my four-year-old daughter to the Hospital Kuala Lumpur. She had an appointment to check on see an X-ray taken the previous week and also to undergo a further check-up.

I was given a number and a yellow card at the registration counter. The number was 149, Room 5. I was not informed that I should get the X-ray and paste it together with the card and leave it at Room 5.

I waited at Room 5. The nurse called numbers 150 and 161. I asked her why she had missed my number. She said my my card was not there yet. Five minutes later, she approached me and asked whether I had the yellow card and I said yes.
