City shows a great soul taking wild place to heart

A wild place within a metropolitan city where wild things can be wild: What a concept.

Our compliments to the Albuquerque Open Space Division, the city's Rio Grande Nature Center and its Parks and Recreation Department as a whole for establishing the Candelaria Wetland in the heart of Albuquerque.

Praise, too, for the General Electric Co., the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation for providing the necessary funding, a small sum of $55,000, for such a splendid cause.

And thanks to the Rio Grande High School students and other volunteers from the Nature Center, …
