What are we losing with the death of Oldsmobile? Sure, the Curved Dash Olds was all the rage-100 years ago, when Olds led all American automakers in production. More recently, however, Oldsmobile's mission was to take on the imports with cars like the Aurora, a firm yet smooth-riding, elegant midsizer. Its 4.0-liter has plenty of power to propel the Aurora's almost two-ton mass, while its four-speed shifts efficiently. Inside, the Aurora feels clean and uncluttered-right on target. But all's for naught. Olds 0, imports 1.
