WINTER PARK -- A new professional live theater -- the Winter Park Playhouse -- is slated to open by year's end. And its main focus will be producing musicals.

"This theater is a labor of love that is coming together in a very short period of time, and we're looking at rapid expansion," says actress Heather Alexander, who, along with her actor husband Roy Alan and stage manager Debbie Bowlus, founded the theater. "We think the community will support it. Everyone complains about living in a cultural armpit, but you must come out and support the arts."

The 1,200-square-foot, 60-seat theater will be located behind the Master Class Academy, a performing arts…
