Mike Teasdale has been made the planning chief of Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO ahead of a possible restructure of the planning operation at Britain's biggest agency.
Teasdale, 34, who currently heads planning for AMV's BT client, takes over from Mia Kennedy, who will revert to a part-time role when she returns from maternity leave later this year.
Cilla Snowball, the agency's managing director, said: "Mike is reviewing everything and coming forward with ideas which could make our planning work better."
The 40-strong planning department is divided into three semi-autonomous groups, one headed by Teasdale, the others by Lucy Edge and Vanella Jackson.
Teasdale said: "People don't really know what planning's role is at AMV. We need to refocus to help the creative department produce better ads and that may mean changing the way we structure ourselves. We're ruling nothing out or in."
