Joakim Jonason, the winner of two Grand Prix awards at the Cannes International Advertising Festival for his work on Diesel, is joining Euro RSCG Wnek Gosper as creative director.
The founder of the Swedish agency Paradiset DDB will join Euro RSCG in August to run its creative department with fellow creative director Chris Herring. Both Jonason and Herring will report to the executive creative director, Mark Wnek.
The turnover of creative directors at Euro RSCG has been high recently. A year ago Paul Shearer quit to join Wieden & Kennedy. He was replaced by Herring and Andy McKay but McKay left after nine months in the role.
Art director Jonason is joining Euro RSCG after closing the doors of Cave Anholt Jonason, a London-based agency that aimed to create international campaigns for clients. It won business from Timberland but failed to develop a long list of global clients. The agency launched late last year but closed owing to personal difficulties between the founders.
Jonason specifically replaces McKay, who left the role of creative director to join Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO as an art director. Jonason will not partner Herring in a creative team but will work alongside the copywriter Dominic Gettins.
