2001 JUN 21 - (NewsRx Network) -- Genaera Corp.'s (GENR) squalamine as been granted Orphan Drug designation for the treatment of ovarian cancer by the U.S. Food a d Drug Administration (FDA).
Squalamine, an anti-angiogenic drug, is currently in clinical development for he treatment of solid tumors in conjunction with chemotherapy. Genaera is planning a registration study for squalamine in combination with carboplatin, in recurrent and resistant ovarian c cer patients.
