KAKIZAKI, Niigata -- A driver of a truck whose unstable load fell onto the road, smashing into an oncoming driver and killing him, has been arrested, along with a transport company president and three others, police said Friday.
The five, also including a maintenance company president and two maintenance workers, are accused of professional negligence resulting in death following the July 2000 accident.
The accident marks the first time a transport company president has been arrested over faulty maintenance of the load on one of its trucks.
