Lawsuit may be filed to counter action on gay pride materials

Though he had received no complaints, Anchorage, AK, Mayor George Wuerch ordered the removal of a gay pride exhibit from Z.J. Loussac Public Library on June 5, less than a day after it debuted. The city was quickly threatened with a lawsuit.

According to the Anchorage Daily News, the display, sponsored by a local church and community group, included posters and a large rainbow banner saying "Celebrate Diversity Under the Midnight Sun." The mayor offered no explanation for his action, other than saying, "I just said, `No.'"
