Small businesses are getting help from the state when it comes to developing new software.

A $255,000 grant from Ohio's Technology Action Fund will create Platform Lab, a facility that companies can use temporarily to develop and test new software, It will open this fall in Columbus and be open to startups, established companies and other organizations throughout the state.

Ohio's IT Alliance and its Columbus based Industry Technology Council also are donating $75,000 to the project, which is being run by the Ohio Supercomputer Center and the Business Technology Center, said Dan Lohmeyer, president of Ohio's IT Alliance. The IT Alliance is an Edison network …
