Bass fishers will not be the only ones to benefit from lake restoration project.

KISSIMMEE -- Bass fishermen and Kissimmee residents have something to cheer about.

The state's 2002 budget, which is awaiting Gov. Jeb Bush's signature, includes $7.7 million to help restore the quality of Lake Tohopekaliga -- a nationally known paradise for bass fishing.

In addition, the federal government may appropriate another $5 million in the Estuaries and Clean Waters Act toward the effort.

The restoration will be made up of two phases. One phase is to clean up pollution and rid the north end of the lake of hundreds of invasive, hard-to-kill Chinese …
